This trip was held on 27th April to 6th May.
Day 1
Not much to tell for first one. Transit here and there, took almost one day to travel from Medan to Beijing!
The route is like this : Medan (Indonesia) - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) - Hong Kong - Beijing (China).
***Lunch and dinner are provided by airlines.
Day 2 - Beijing
Beijing is the capital city of China. It's a modern city, but there are still a lot of historical buildings. Chinese really know how to preserve their culture. Honestly, Beijing is not really my favorite city. The people are not friendly (it's troublesome especially when you want to bargain with the seller). A little bit of advise, just don't enter public restroom (just find a restroom in a restaurant or hotel instead of the public restroom alongside the road).
Note : It's not recommended to go to Beijing around end of April, there are a lot of what local people say YangMiu falling from trees. It's just like cotton falling all around Beijing instead of snow. You might think it's beautiful, but it makes us hard to breathe.
1. Tian An Men
It's only a field, surrounded by historical building. There is a museum over there, but since our
time is limited, we don't even get inside the museum.
No filter! The sky was grey because of the pollution |
It was previously a real Chinese palace (king and queen did live here). So, when you stepped
inside, you could just feel that you had traveled back to 1400s. There were 9,999 rooms inside
the palace!
3. Summer Palace
Summer Palace was a garden for the king and queen. Ordinary people may not enter here
previously.
Love the details of the ceiling! |
1. Great Wall of China - a must to visit. There's a proverb said that If you haven't gone to Great Wall,
you're not a good Chinese.
Indians people ask to take a picture with my mom! (lol). They thought my mom was local people. |
That breathtaking scenery! |
The staircase is not equally the same height, but it was created back before we have technology, eh! |
It's not a shiny day - it was raining cat and dog.
Note : MAY NOT ENTER the toilet over here.
Day 4 - Beijing
1. Temple of Heaven
Previously, it was a temple only king and his family could visit.
Nowadays, the temple has been visited daily by local. There are a lot of elders here and they do a lot of activities at its garden, like having clubs - badminton clubs, singing clubs, dancing clubs, playing cards clubs, etc. All of the elders from Beijing gather here I guess.
2. Hu Tong
It's area full of ancient buildings. You should try to go around this area by rickshaw! It was really nice. Enjoy the ride!
3. Ya Xiu Market
Well, it's a shopping market. Nope, the below picture is not from inside the market. It's from the opposite area of the market.
feel like a real Beijing-ers. |
Day 5 - Hangzhou
Yeay! Finally out from Beijing.
We traveled from Beijing to Hangzhou by bullet train and it only took 5 hours (half day).
Hangzhou is my favorite city in China so far. This city so colorful - not colorful because of the lights, but because of the flowers. You could never get bored inside the car since there are a lot of flowers along the road. Watching them blooming kinda make my day.
1. Xi Hu.
It's a legendary lake. The myth of white snake was from Hangzhou.
Well, Xi Hu is not that wow, but I really like the park surrounding this lake.
2. Yue Fei Miao (Yue Fei Temple)
It is located near Xi Hu. The temple is built to respect Yue Fei, a famous general back in the day. The tombs of Yue Fei and his first son are behind this temple.
The garden behind the temple (y) :
3. Song Cheng
Let's get back to Dynasty Song era! Employees over here wore Dynasty Song's clothes - ancient clothes, and it was cool! Chinese girls also put on flower crowns on their head. Now that I think of it, I should have bought 'em too.
I watched some kind like opera over here, telling us stories about Hang Zhou back in the early day and now. Not really fond of the theater performance, but I love this place!
Sadly, there are mostly only stalls selling foods, clothes and souvenirs. They should have built a theme park over here!
PS. I was not fat! I looked fat merely because I was wearing 2 jackets since I was having cold at that time :(
Day 6 - Hangzhou - Zhou Zhuang - Suzhou
1. Long Jing (tea garden) - Hangzhou
Not much around here, the tour guide took us here to buy the tea products actually. Recommend the tea pills, my allergic got better after consuming the tea pills.
2. Master of Net Gardens - Su Zhou
Su Zhou is not really a special city... I don't even know how to describe this city.
So, Master of Net Gardens was formerly a house of rich family. Now, it was a tourist site.
Once you exit Master of Net Gardens, this small alley view will welcome you!
3. Qi Li Shan Tang - Su Zhou
People call Shang Tang Jie is the Venice of the East.
Not a fan of this river either, I mean look first! It's dirty. However, I was kinda enjoying the view of old houses along side the river.
3. Market (I don't know what's the name of this market / shopping mall), but it was a nice place to shop!
Day 7 - Suzhou - Zhou Zhuang - Shanghai
There was a small garden beside the hotel (Holiday Inn Hotel), so my morning activity becomes a photography session I guess (?)
1. Tiger Hill
Tiger Hill Pagoda |
Feel like I come from the 80s in this picture. Look at that hair! That glasses! Those eyes! That face! *sigh* |
2. Zhou Zhuang
Like this place, although it's super small. They said it is called Shui Xiang: Village of Water (I am sure the English version of Sui Xiang)
Much better than Venice of the East in my opinion:
He sang for us! Cheers! |
Anyone wants to try some Kung Fu acts on that roof? ;D |
Gosh, I think I'm in love with the alleys in China, is that possible? |
Just focus on the windmills... |
3. Huang Pu River - Shanghai
Enjoying night view of Shanghai on a cruise.
P.S. Don't get shocked. Yes, the Chinese people will directly went to the third floor of the cruise (open top) like ants.
Oriental tower behind me! |
Shang Hai Tan behind me! |
Day 8 - Shanghai
Shanghai is my second favorite city after Hangzhou. Shanghai is also called as forest made of metals - skyscrapers everywhere!
1. Oriental Pearl Tower
Hello from 263 m above! |
2. Shanghai Tan (Shanghai Bund)
Monument to People's Heroes |
Oriental Pearl |
Shanghai Tan - those Europe vibes! |
3. Cheng Huang Miao - a shopping district. I thought that it's a temple at first since the name is ended by Miao. Apparently, it has nothing to do with temple at all.
Cheng Huang Miao |
Day 9 - Shanghai
Last day was a shopping day! We visited several shopping malls. Couldn't take a lot of pictures on my shopping day, since I was too focus on shopping I guess ._.
Luckily, I did take pictures at XinTianDi, a super cozy European style shopping center. It would be so nice if I could hang out with friends over here, or it is even nicer if I could enjoy my cup of tea while reading books *dreaming*
XinTianDi |
XinDianTi |
XinDianTi |
In love with this alley as well *love* |
Day 10 : Flight all day! Shanghai - Hong Kong - Kuala Lumpur - Medan
Note : There were still a lot of places which I visited but no pictures taken. There were mostly shopping centers or shops: Wang Fu Jing (Beijing), jade shops (Beijing & Shanghai), silk factory (Su Zhou), Nan Jing Lu (Shanghai), knife factory (Shanghai), etc.
Regards,
Elisa
